The Baltit Fort stands on moraines of Ultar glacier in
central Hunza valley among the high
mountains of the karakorums in the northern
areas of Pakistan. Which is the ever first
restored monument of built heritage by the
Aga Khan Trust for Culture-Geneva (1990
-1996), as a pilot project of currently on
going conservation of a number of old
monuments of northern Pakistan. The fort
remains open all year round and seven days a
week, with an idea of a self sustaining
cultural centre with the support of its
entry ticket sales, souvenirs and generous
donations of individuals and organizations
interested for the promotion and
preservation of cultural and historical
heritage of this part of world. To deliver
appropriate information about this old
building and its history all of the visitors
are provided a guided tour and a multimedia
presentation for groups.
